Play the Game. Save Lives.

The Summers, Rufolo & Rodgers High School Challenge is a year-long competition designed to inspire students to lead, give back, and make a real impact in their community.

Participating schools compete to grow blood donations, promote awareness, and build leadership while supporting local patients in need.

Challenge Timeline

August 1, 2026 – June 1, 2027

Schools are encouraged to plan and schedule their blood drives early to maximize participation and impact throughout the school year.

Awards

Schools will compete within their division (Large, Medium, and Small Schools).
🏆 1st Place: $25,000

🥈 2nd Place: $10,000
Winners are determined based on overall performance and growth throughout the challenge period.

How to Qualify

To participate and remain eligible for awards, schools must:

  • Achieve at least 10% year-over-year growth in blood donations
  • Participate in monthly advisory council meetings
  • Include 1–2 student leaders and 1 staff advisor on the advisory council

Promote each blood drive with:

  • 3 social media posts
  • 1 email or text campaign
  • Participate in student video PSAs

Schedule all blood drives by August 31, 2026

What Schools Receive

Participating schools will receive support and promotional opportunities throughout the challenge, including:

  • Monthly promotional content, including reels (with Summers, Rufolo & Rogers featured quarterly)
  • Geofencing campaigns to promote blood drives ahead of each event
  • Marketing collateral recognizing Summers, Rufolo & Rogers as the presenting sponsor
  • Digital PSAs highlighting the partnership and encouraging community involvement
  • Branded t-shirts and promotional items
  • On-site banners at participating schools
  • A promotional educational video featuring Jerry Summers and Blood Assurance leadership
  • Community awareness through outreach opportunities such as Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs

Schools are required to schedule their blood drives by August 31, 2026, to ensure full participation in the challenge.

Only donations collected at your school’s blood drive(s) will count toward the competition totals.

Schools that win this competition will not be eligible for the Blood Assurance High School Heroes Grant Program during the 2026-27 school year.
