Other Services
Autologous Donation
Individuals facing scheduled, non-emergency surgery have the option of pre-depositing their
own blood for use during or immediately after their surgical procedure.
Exclusive use of a patient’s own Blood eliminates reactions due to donor recipient
incompatibility and precludes exposure to transfusion transmitted infection.
Directed Donation
Individuals may recruit friends or family members to donate blood on their behalf prior to
elective surgery.
Although no evidence exists that this manner of donation is safer than blood from the community
blood supply, Blood Assurance offers this option as part of its commitment to patient service.
